My family and neighbors at Forest View have been through a lot. We have faced water problems, neglect, crumbling infrastructure, corrupt management, eviction threats, and a constant fear that the park will close, which would cause the majority of us to be 'unhoused', which is just another way to say 'homeless'.
Nevertheless, we haven't given up. We still believe in each other. We still gather together, united, to defend and fight for our homes and community.
Thanks to our efforts and the support of allies, we have caught the attention of a respected social impact investment firm interested in purchasing Forest View. They have a proven record of putting people first, working with community leaders and residents to significantly revitalize manufactured and mobile home parks while making them safer and keeping them affordable.
The next step is for the City of Blue Island to join our efforts and support us. There's already some interest and backing from the City Council, but we need more. Let's get the City to sit at the table and help make this a reality.
