Christine Miceli
Lawmakers need to know what life is like living in a manufactured home community. We are owned by a predatory Corporation, RHP Properties. When they bought our community at the end of 2017, that’s when we started to see outrageous lot rent increases, poor maintenance, no respect for tenants, and poor maintenance, including people not being able to leave their homes because of snow not being plowed.
Candi Van Tassel
My name is Candi Van Tassel, and I live in Huguenot Estates, a manufactured home community owned by RHP Properties. I moved here because I thought it would be more affordable. I was previously living in NJ and had a house which I was struggling to pay for as a single mother.
Betz Clair
My name is Betz Clair and I live in Candlestick Mobile Home Park in Newburgh, NY. Out of the blue, one day in September of 2018, Lakeshore Management went door to door announcing that THEY were the new owners of the park, hastening us to a community meeting they used as an opportunity to criticize, chastise, and intimidate us, and establish their dominion.
Dio Kaufman
I’m Dio Kaufman, I live in Saratoga Springs. I moved into my community in July of 2020. Previously, we were renting and we’d owned a home. My health has been declining since 2019, and as of last year, I’ve been the only one in my family to be employed, working as a freelancer. This means my income can fluctuate greatly. A house was too much expense and work for me to keep up with.
Robert Fitch
My name is Robert Fitch, and I have been living in Golden Meadows for 30 years. Since Havenpark bought our park, it seems like nothing has been done in terms of maintenance.
JoAnn Alvarez
My name is JoAnn Alvarez, and I moved into Golden Meadows about three years ago with my late husband – before Havenpark bought the park.
David Bates
My name is David Bates. We got a little relief with the government stimulus assistance, which I am still thankful for, but Y.E.S. Communities raised the rent twice during the pandemic.
Sindy Malloy
My name is Sindy Malloy. I live in Pine Ridge Mobile Home Park in Argentine, Michigan. When Havenpark bought the community, the cost of living here increased drastically. They increased the lot rent, added sewage/water meter installations, and began charging trash, admin, and even pet fees.
Rodney Perkins
My name is Rodney Perkins, and I have lived in Pine Ridge Mobile Home Park in Linden, Michigan for five years. When Havenpark took over here, they raised the lot rent, added water and fees for garbage, sewer, and everything else they can think of.
Robert DeVries
My name is Robert DeVries, and I live in Windmill Estates in Holland, Michigan. Since Havenpark bought the property, everything feels like an ‘us against them’ battle. Rent has increased and our monthly bills include new charges which are hard to understand.
Marilyn Langley
I’m Marilyn Langley. I’m 70 years old and I live in Pine Ridge Mobile Home Park in Argentine, Michigan. I question everything Havenpark does. It often feels that they’re lying to us.
Hannah Talik
My name is Hannah Talik, and I live with my young daughter in Landmark Estates in Warren, Michigan. We are a family here; my daughter calls our neighbors 'uncle' and 'auntie.' However, over time, the conditions in the park have made it uninhabitable.
Grover Kanine
My name is Grover Kanine. I’ve been living with my dog, Sadie, in my pick-up truck since September of 2021. In 2019, Impact Communities, a corporate owner, sold me a dilapidated, 1985 manufactured home at Meadows Mobile Home Park in Alma, MI.
Gayle & Jim Saner
We’re Gayle and Jim Saner, and we’ve lived in Landmark Estates in Warren, Michigan, for just over a year. When we bought our home, lots of the damage to it was camouflaged. The seller told us that the roof had been fixed by management after a tree fell on it, but the roof leaks everywhere.
Don Wessely
My name is Don Wessely. I’m a retired federal officer, and I served in the Marine Corps for nearly two decades. In 2018, my park was purchased by Impact Communities, a company based in Colorado. Since they took over, we’ve had to fight tooth and nail to hold them accountable for breaking state and city laws.
Blake Alvies
My name is Blake Alvies, and I’ve lived in Gaslite Mobile Home Park for 6 years. We’ve had three owners since I moved in. The original owners were great, but we haven’t even had a lease since 2019. I don’t mind paying lot rent, but we don’t get anything for it.
Edward Seppala
My name is Edward Seppala, and I live in Sand & Sea Village. I have been living here since September of 2015. I chose this community because I couldn’t afford anything else. I bought my mobile home directly from Quality Homes, which is the corporate owner of the park.
Stevie Miller
Hi, my name is Stevie Miller, and I have lived in Missile View Mobile Home Park for 38 years. Leasco Management took over my community almost three years ago, and since then, my life has drastically changed.
