Judy Salgado

My name is Judy Salgado, and I’ve lived in Green Meadows Estates for over eight years. I was raised on a farm out in the country, and then when I was getting older, I discovered Rockford. I’ve been here ever since. I always lived in mobile home parks, because that was how I could afford to raise three kids on my own.

I worked for 33 years stripping parts for chrome plating at a metal finishing company. I had to retire because of back problems, MS, and other health problems. Now I spend time taking care of my great grandkids. I used to be able to take family out to dinner or a movie, but now there is never anything left.

Since Saratoga Group took over the park in maybe 2020, my lot rent has gone up almost 70% with all the extra fees. I have no extra money ever. You never get a break. My son had to move in to help with bills, or I’d never make it by myself.

I go to different food pantries every week because there’s never any money left. Before Saratoga Group came along, I never had to go to a pantry in my life. But I do what I have to do. I live month to month, hand to mouth, just trying to get by.

That’s why we need stronger protections!
