Eileen Posner
My name is Eileen Posner, and I live in Whispering Pines, a manufactured home community in Titusville, FL. When I first moved here, I thought this was such a beautiful community. The neighborhood was gorgeous, and the neighbors were very friendly.
Everything has gone downhill since the corporate owners took over. The previous owners did their best to upkeep the park, but now I’m getting sick and tired of rent increases and the decrease in maintenance.
We have multiple sinkholes around the park – one of my neighbors had the pipes in her bathroom blow and feces overflowed from the toilet and all over the walls. There is currently a sinkhole in my backyard that I have warned them about multiple times. They ignored my concerns and just patched up the issue instead of outright fixing it. Now the only thing holding my bedroom from sinking into a hole in the ground is a wooden beam.
When I spoke to other neighbors about my issue, we were sent a cease and desist letter that stated I was slandering Parakeet Communities (the corporate owners). They told me I could not talk to anyone about what was going on in the park.
I have always been a fighter, and I won't let them get away with treating me and my neighbors like we don’t matter. Everything that we are doing now will be worth it in the end because we WILL get protections passed, not only for us, but for other mobile home residents too.
