I moved into Capital Estates Mobile Home Park in July 2005. I was going through a divorce at the time, and the park was a place where I could afford to live. I soon came to realize that this park had a friendly atmosphere. Management and staff were friendly and going into the office was a pleasant experience.

I moved into Capital Estates Mobile Home Park in 2008. I like the idea of having my own place and having a community. That really means a lot.

At least 50 percent of my income goes to housing costs, and I don’t have a lot left after paying for housing. Breakfast with friends was going to cost almost twenty dollars the other day; I said, “I’ll just have a side of potatoes.”

My name is Maribeth Sheedy, and I am an MHAction Leader and the President of the Tenants’ Association for the Akron Mobile Home Park in Akron, NY.

My name is Andrea Crannell and I have been a resident of the Lorendale Mobile Home Park in Greenfield Center, NY, since 2006. I am 70-years-old and disabled after being hurt in 2 accidents. I bought my home which was the only affordable option I had because I am on a very low, fixed income.

My name is Ada Hand and I live in Del Mar Mobile Home Estates in Huntington Beach, CA. I moved here in 2015 because it was a more affordable option and seemed like a welcoming community.

My name is Francine Townsend, I have been a resident of ARC Mobile Homes, now RHP since 2002.

Prior to the transition of management, everything was very well kept. We had a community manager who came around often speaking to the residents making sure things were well taken care of.

My name is Angela Silas. I live in Lake Runnymeade Mobile Home Park in St. Cloud, FL. I moved here in September 2011 because, being on disability and raising a 2 year old, it was an affordable option for me and my family.

My name is Jean Hansen from Billings, MT. I moved to Golden Meadows Mobile Home Park 17 years ago last May. At the time, I was recently divorced and was able to buy my home at a reasonable price. I fell in love with the porch and wanted to make this my forever home.

My name is Pam Gutierrez from Billings, MT. I’ve always lived in mobile homes and was able to purchase this one in 1999. I had to move from where I was living before and decided to move my home here to Golden Meadows in October 2021. I wanted to avoid bad weather in the heights and loved our little cul-de-sac.

I have been a resident of Lawndale Estates for 23 years. We are owned by Yes Communities, which is owned by investors in Singapore. Whenever I try to call the office, nobody answers.

I have lived in Independence Woods in Clarkston, Michigan for 10 years. I have experienced numerous issues with this rental home since moving here. They installed the wrong size HVAC unit for the house. The floor warped and had to be replaced two times in 10 years. Whenever we request maintenance, the park is always “short staffed” or “the truck is broken down,” but they had people and money to renovate the park office.

Our names are Keith and Christina Stoudt, and we’ve lived in Baltimore Terrace in Hastings, MI for just over five years with our kids. One of us (Keith) works as a tank tester at a company that manufactures water heaters, and the other (Christina) takes care of our kids and lives with a disability.

My name is Melissa Sherer, and I cook in a local nursing home. I love adding something to the meals and baking them special desserts, like the scratch-made chocolate cake I made last week. I have lived in Hillcrest with my three kids for almost a year, after living in another RHP property, Colonial Manor for five years.

My name is Randy Fitzpatrick, and I’ve lived in Northern Cove Mobile Home Park in Charlevoix, Michigan for 11 years. I moved in with my mother when I got hurt working as a CDL driver and had to fight for disability.

My name is Shirley Warner, and I lived in Baltimore Terrace in Hastings, Michigan for about two years. I had moved to Florida because my brother was sick, but he passed away, and I got very, very sick.  All of my family is around here. I needed to be around family (I am not a young chick anymore!).

My name is Melinda Sadiki. I moved to Pleasant Valley MHP in Gansevoort, NY, in November 2023. I moved here because I was desperate for a place to live. Our area is becoming more touristy and affordable housing is becoming less available as a result. Right now, I can only afford to rent here at the park.

My name is Steve Foss. I’m a veteran that’s lived in Baltimore Terrace for 37 years. When I first moved in, the lot rent was about $100. When Homes of America bought Baltimore Terrace, lot rent started increasing each year. Today lot rent is up over 190%. I own my trailer, but soon I’ll be paying as much as some rentals.

My name is Janice Prude, and my husband Sam and I have rented our house in Swansea Mobile Home Park in Swansea, Illinois for over 15 years. The people who own this place, they just don’t keep it up to par.
